PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Rubbersidewalks are high-density paving tiles made with recycled California tire crumbed rubber combined with polyurethane binder and colorant, then molded with heat under compression. This produces a strong and durable part that meets all requirements of sidewalk-worthiness, including stable grade, non-vibration in compliance with ADA requirements, and high coefficient of friction for non-skid both dry and wet. Rubbersidewalks are available in various sizes and colors, and are reversible. Known life per face is minimum eight years. Actual life per face is not known but is expected to exceed 12 years.

Material: 100% recycled California crumb rubber, Urethane resin binder & colorant

Paver Tile Size:
2' x 2.5' x 1.875" 5 sq ft  (for 4 or 5 foot wide sidewalks)
Weight: 10.8 lbs per square foot (54 lbs. per paving tile)

Surface: Crumb rubber molded texture; all edges 1/8" radius [Both sides identical]

Colors: Gray, terra cotta, black, black with white spec
(other colors available upon request)

Paver expected to darken slightly in the first two months then remain stable. UV lab tests show no change after two years. Surface appearance may vary due to inconsistence in granulated waste tire rubber.

All test conducted and reported by accredited U.S. testing companies and performed under continuous direct supervision.

Density and Hardness: Shore A 70

Shock Attenuation:

Under 200 g at 5’. Fall significantly less likely than on concrete to
cause injury or broken bones. Product is not designed for
playground use and is not a playground material.

Coefficient of Friction
ASTM C 1028:

0.92 - .96 dry
0.89 - .92 wet
(OSHA guidelines require that all walking surfaces satisfy a 0.5 Static Coefficient of Friction rating. In new construction and alterations, ADA specifies that a 0.6 Coefficient of Friction is recommended on all path of travel surfaces.)

Skid Resistance
ASTM 303:
Average 66 dry, 43 wet

(Sliding distance, time taken to cover the sliding distance, inclination of material slider, and contact pressure; In accordance with ASTM E-303, the wet-dynamic reading should NOT be less then 40)

Taber-Abrasion
ASTM C 501:

Wear index: 270 (Using H-22 heavy duty abrading wheels and 1000 grams pressure on each wheel, at 1000 cycles)
(Index score indicates high resistance to wear)
Salt/Chloride
ASTM B117:

Product exposed for 24 hours. No change in surface; no stain or residue
Magnesium Chloride:

Product soaked in saturated solution, removed and allowed to dry.
No change in surface; no stain or residue
Xenon Arc Weathering:

200 hours UV testing. Lighting equivalent to outdoor daylight conditions and temperatures not exceeding 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
No change after exposure to sunlight two-year equivalent

Flame Spread
ASTM E162:
Surface flammability Flame Spread Index 131.18 at average temperature rise of 157.7 C

Material meets the ANSI Z124.1 and Z124.2. Appendix III requirement for an Average DM of 450 of less.
Flammability
ASTM D1929-96:

Ignition at minimum 9 minutes sustained exposure to 722 degrees Fahrenheit. (Self-ignition 722 degrees F; flash ignition 712 degrees F)

Lit cigarettes, cigars or matches will burn on paver until
they self-extinguish.

Porosity:

100% permeability through interlocked modules. Porosity: 6.48 square inches per paver open space @ 1/16” depth per side, 5% void per total square footage.
Allows immediate drainage of water into ground & minimal run off into storm drain.

Freeze-Thaw
ASTM C 1026:
Product exposed to 15 cycles of freeze-thaw at 0 Degrees for 90 days. No change. No facial defects. No signs of crazing, chipping, spailing or cracking.
Freezing Impact Test: Rubbersidewalks, at 0 degrees F for 48 hours, were subjected to measurement tests. Change in measurement was negligible.

Rubbersidewalks, at 0 degrees F for 48 hours, were subjected to repeated impact testing. Samples exhibited no signs of crazing, chipping, spailing or cracks by inspection.

Rubbersidewalks, at -35 degrees F for 48 hours, were subjected to repeated impact testing:
2' - 5 lb wgt
5' - 5 lb wgt
10' - 5 lb wgt
Compression, 300 lb load

Samples exhibited no signs of crazing, chipping, spailing or cracks by inspection.

ADA compliance: Low vibration; concrete-to-Rubbersidewalks transition non- affective; high coefficient of friction both dry and wet; Shore A hardness supports all pedestrian and wheeled traffic, and transition on and off concrete or other hard scape.
Product designed for 4 foot minimum width.
Modularity:

Rubbersidewalks is a modular sidewalk system. Pavers are
interconnected and can be opened by professional contractors
for tree root maintenance, utilities maintenance, seismic adjustment, sidewalk relocation, etc.

Other: -100% California recycled tire rubber, with polyurethane binder
-Non-toxic. All components inert solids. No volatile organic
-Rubbersidewalks reduce sound of pedestrian or wheeled traffic.
-Maintenance: Sweep, hose down or mop

SOLE SOURCE

Rubbersidewalks is a sole source product, conceived and developed by Rubbersidewalks, Inc. for the public right of way and landscaping applications, marketed and manufactured by Rubbersidewalks, Inc. Rubbersidewalks modular sidewalk system has been tested and proven effective for use in public right of way (sidewalks, walkways, tree wells), and proven beneficial to the health and maintenance of urban trees. Rubbersidewalks, Inc. is a small, and woman-owned, California business.
