Californians dispose 34 million tires each year--408 million
pounds of waste rubber.
Rubbersidewalks are made of 100% California tire rubber. Each square foot
of Rubbersidewalks uses the rubber of one entire passenger tire. Each 5 sf
paver keeps five tires out of landfill, and 400 square feet keeps over
two tons of waste tire rubber from going into landfill.
The California Recycling Tire Act 1989 (Assembly Bill 1843)
established the California Tire Recycling Management Fund. The California
Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) receives an annual appropriation from
this fund to support tire recycling efforts and the use of recycled tire rubber
products. Ask your local agencies about grants and rebates available to users of
recycled rubber product.
Rubbersidewalks, Inc. is proud to have been
awarded two Tire Commercialization Grants by the California Integrated Waste
Management Board.
The resources
of the earth are limited. Recycling is limited only by our
imagination and effort.
